We showed City Council New Yorkers want to #EndUnjustFirings!

On Wednesday, May 31st, we joined fellow workers in the Secure Job Act Coalition for our first advocacy day! The Secure Jobs Act will create new protections for workers against unjust firings including a requirement for employers to give 14-day notice. These laws would be transformational in the domestic work industry where we hear on a weekly basis workers sharing how they are fired without notice or reason. The advocacy day brought together Councilmembers, the Comptroller, and other allies to raise the visibility of the campaign. We held a rally in City Hall Park then continued to Councilmember offices to hold meetings and urge them to sign on to support the legislation.

The Secure Jobs Act has overwhelming support! A recent Data for Progress report shows 89% of New Yorkers support passing this legislation.
