Advocating in Albany for Housing Justice

On March 6th a CGA delegation consisting of members of Brightly Carroll Gardens, the Southwest Brooklyn Tenant Union, and Resident Leaders, traveled up to Albany to meet with our elected officials, advocating for affordable housing and tenant rights. We met with State Senator Brian Kavanagh, State Senator Velmanette Montgomery, Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, and Assistant Speaker Felix Ortiz, who signed the Housing Justice for All pledge for Universal Rent Control.

We traveled up with fellow Brooklyn based housing justice organizations Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Fifth Avenue Committee, and IMPACCT Brooklyn.

I get excited about creating brand experiences that are authentic, engaging and inclusive. My career journey consisted of a variety of roles and industries, from rolling out blockbuster movie campaigns at the Walt Disney to producing large-scale youth festivals for the Malaysian government. Having worn many hats for over eight years allows me to have a unique approach to marketing while building lasting partnerships, creatively problem solve, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Born and raised in Malaysia, I now call New York City home. Lover of plants, good coffee, and thoughtful brands. The Sorting Hat will say that I am a true Hufflepuff. You can reach me at jiarfong@gmail.com
