NDWA Presents: Legacy of Care, A Portrait Series
Legacy of Care, A Portrait Series
Join us for the exhibition of Legacy of Care, A Portrait Series in New York City hosted by none other than esteemed art curator Mashonda Tifrere! The series champions the legacies of power, resilience, agency, and care embodied by domestic workers of the past and present, and passed down to future generations. Together, we will celebrate the stories and efforts of the women who resisted, and persisted to make this world one in which we can live, rest, and thrive with dignity.
Doors open at 6, and upon entering, guests can help themselves to light refreshments before and after a short program while enjoying DJ Wemi Mo’s set.
Unemployment Bridge Program Campaign Launch
We need elected officials to refuse to support harmful federal efforts designed to hurt our people. This is not just about rejecting policies but about offering real, tangible solutions to the issues that working-class New Yorkers face daily, like the Unemployment Bridge Program (UBP) — common-sense legislation that would provide crucial security for 750,000 freelancers, self-employed workers, formerly incarcerated people and others who are excluded from traditional unemployment benefits. Many of these workers are the most vulnerable in our economy, particularly those from Black and brown communities and those in precarious industries.
