Join NYCEDC and WXY Studio for an info session on the transformation of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT)—a project that will build the waterfront community for New Yorkers and generate significant economic impact for New York City.
In May 2024, Mayor Adams, along with Governor Hochul, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced an agreement giving the City operational control of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal—encompassing 120+ acres of waterfront in Red Hook and the Columbia Street Waterfront District, including the existing Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. To guide the transformation of BMT, NYCEDC will establish a community visioning process involving a broad range of stakeholders and interests to develop a roadmap for a modern maritime port focused on blue highways, freight, and micro-mobility strategies, and additional opportunities such as including housing and community amenities.
The visioning process will be led by NYCEDC, working closely with the BMT Taskforce—chaired by US Representative Dan Goldman, with New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes and New York City Council Member Alexa Aviles serving as vice chairs—and advisory groups at every step of the way, ensuring numerous opportunities for public engagements. Join our webinar on August 12 at 6:30 pm to learn more about the project and upcoming engagement opportunities. The webinar will provide an overview of the project and what’s to come, followed by Q&A.
