On Saturday, April 10th from 3:00pm to 4:30pm EST join NYC Care Campaign members and the Brooklyn 35 committee (Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Bed Stuy), for District 35 NYC Council Candidate forum to hear from the candidates about investing in domestic and care work, and legislative priorities to advance workers rights.
Our main issues are:
- Government investment in the domestic and care sector to create good quality jobs and make care accessible to all New Yorkers, so parents, older adults, and people with disabilities have the care and support they need at home
- Advancing equality by passing anti-discriminatory and labor laws to protect low-wage workers, in particular immigrant Black, Indigenous, and women of color (BIWOC).
The NYC Care Campaign is a growing coalition of domestic workers, employers, parents, families, caregivers, older adults, and people with disabilities working together to transform New York City’s care economy into one that is just, equitable and sustainable for all. The campaign is led by the National Domestic Workers Alliance, Hand in Hand: The Domestic Employers Network, Adhikaar, Carroll Gardens Association. Some of the endorser organizations are Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, Innovative Youth Care, among other local groups
