We Dream in Black - Organizing Institute

The Power of Black Resilience - We Dream in Black Organizing Institute

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH  - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH, 2021

Since 2020, our community has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, an uneasy transfer of power in our last election, various natural disasters, and global civil uprisings. More than ever, are Black domestic workers are in need of a space where we can learn together, reflect together, and heal together.

The Organizing Institute is We Dream in Black's largest annual event and it's a space for Black domestic workers and Organizers to facilitate organizing workshops, celebrate our accomplishments, address the challenges we continue to face, and heal as a community.

This year's institute theme is: The Power of Black Resilience. We will mark We Dream in Black's 5th year anniversary, featuring speakers like our very own Aimée-Josiane Twagirumukiza—former Director of Black Organizing, along with Dr.Black, a renowned professor and healer. The We Dream in Black Institute will be held from Thursday, September 16th to Sunday, September 19th. We will kick off with a film screening of Through the Night on Thursday evening, followed by a panel and dance party on Friday evening. We Dream in Black Institute will officially commence on Saturday with member-led workshops and panel discussions, followed by a Self-care Sunday.
