Launching #HouseNY: Publicly Funded Housing, Controlled by the People, for the People.

In NYC we are facing an unprecedented affordable housing crisis. After a year and a half of temporary protections, we need permanent solutions -- especially for our 5 million unregulated renters. On Tuesday, November 16th we joined Housing Justice for All coalition members and mobilized outside of Hudson Yards to launch House New York, our legislative agenda for 2022. #HouseNY is a bold and overdue plan that will eliminate corporate tax breaks for luxury developers, eliminate unjust evictions, and secure funding for homeless New Yorkers. Specifically, the plan includes

  • Good Cause Eviction

  • The elimination of 421a

  • Permanent Rental Assistance

  • The right for tenants to collectively purchase their buildings

  • Full investment in housing for homeless NYers

With new leadership in Albany, now is the time to strengthen tenant rights and make real, permanent investments in housing across New York State. We are calling on our representatives to end the homelessness crisis and bring truly affordable housing to New York!

Join Us to Win Good Cause Eviction!

Good Cause Eviction, a component of House New York, doesn't just give every tenant the right to remain in their homes, it also gives *every tenant* the right to organize for safer conditions in their homes without fear of retaliation and eviction.

We are building a statewide movement to strengthen tenants rights, but the fight for housing justice has only just begun. We need to talk to our neighbors about how Good Cause will permanently alter our lives as tenants.

Join us in December to get the word out about Good Cause Eviction in our community. You can click here to sign up to canvass with us!

Unsure about your knowledge on Good Cause? Don't fret, you are not alone: we are offering an on-site training on how to talk to your neighbors about Good Cause Eviction. We are in this together!
